Mass Transit
The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is the public transit system for the Denver metro area. RTD offers convenient bus and light rail service throughout the region. The easiest, greenest, and most affordable way to enjoy unlimited travel on RTD during your stay in Denver is by purchasing a Five-Day Pass for $37.00. The pass is valid for unlimited rides on all Local, Express and Regional bus services and all light rail service for five consecutive days. Passes may be purchased online at RTD-Denver.com with no shipping costs. Please order by August 10 to allow sufficient time for delivery. For more information on RTD passes and services, visit RTD-Denver.com or call 303.299.6000.
However, during the course of the convention, the Pepsi Center and Union Station light rail stops will be closed for security reasons.

Denver's Finest
Congresswoman Diana DeGette represents Denver, Colorado in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is looking forward to the Democratic National Convention and has created a this series of Web videos to give attendees the inside scoop on the best Denver has to offer.
This is the first in a series of videos. Check back here every week for a new video introducing you to some of the people and places in Denver:
Delegate Service Day
Building on its commitment to make service and active participation in the community a hallmark of the 2008 Democratic National Convention, the DNCC is coordinating a Delegate Service Day in conjunction with Democrats Work, Metro Volunteers and Volunteers of America on Wednesday, August 27th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Michelle Obama and Colorado First Lady Jeannie Ritter will co-chair this effort, which aims to inspire hundreds of thousands of Americans in a renewed commitment to service.
Projects will range from canned food sorting, painting at local schools, serving meals at shelters, reading to children, removing graffiti, landscaping at local schools, tree planting and park maintenance. These projects will allow delegates to both contribute to and celebrate the people and organizations making positive change and strengthening communities in the city hosting the Democratic National Convention.
Delegates will have the opportunity to lend a hand at project sites throughout the Denver area – many downtown for minimal walking. We have also indentified service sites near the Denver Tech Center and Stapleton delegate hotel “clusters” to ensure we are giving back to those neighborhoods and minimizing transportation of participants from their delegation hotel and back. The DNCC will provide bus transportation to select sites.
Jenni Engebretsen, Deputy CEO for Public Affairs
We hope delegates from across the country will elect to join us in this effort – and ideally, get involved or recommit to service upon returning home to their communities, helping to inspire millions more Americans to lives of service. Sign up below, and we will be in touch with you during the coming weeks to follow up with more information.
PLEASE NOTE that we have a limited number of volunteer slots available for Delegate Service Day activities and will be filling those positions with visiting delegates, Party officials and their families before we open our registration process to other interested individuals. Accordingly, the registration link below requires a user name and password. Delegates should contact their state Party chairs to obtain this information.
Registration for Delegate Service Day is closed
Thank you for your interest in Delegate Service Day and volunteering!

Welcome
On behalf of the Democratic Party, congratulations on your election as a delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
The DNCC is hard at work planning for a Convention that will serve as an engaging celebration of the strength of the Democratic Party, the diversity we embrace, the values we share and our vision for America. Democrats continue to work for the change we started in 2006 – and our Convention will mark the beginning of the next leg of that journey. As a Party, we have a compelling story to tell – particularly in the Rocky Mountain West, where so many of our recently elected officials exemplify the new kind of leadership our Party is bringing to our country at all levels. In Denver, we will aim to broaden the conversation about what it truly means to be a “big tent” party – beyond regional and ethnic diversity to include an expanding array of people who share our values.
Without question, our Convention in Denver will be historic – and the months leading up to August present an exciting opportunity to deepen the engagement of all those who turned out in record numbers across the country for our Party’s nominating contests. We’ve felt that enthusiasm in Denver for some time – and we look forward to making you a part of it!
