U.S. Congressman Ed Perlmutter (CO-7) discusses his experiences at past Conventions and what Denver and Lakewood can expect from the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
DNCC CEO Leah Daughtry and U.S. Congressman Ed Perlmutter answer Lakewood residents’ questions about the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Topics include Convention speakers, housing, surrounding events and super delegates.

As a registered Green Party, Florida resident had I thought the delegates would have been counted I would have changed my party affiliation to vote in the Democratic primary for the candidate of my choice-it costs 42 cents and takes 2 weeks to process.
Now I hear cry’s from democratic leaders to hold a re-election in Florida and Michigan. I see no reason to do so because of the cost. We have seen estimates of 14 million dollars to do so and that does NOT include the cost of campaigning. I will be very upset with the Democratic Party if one cent is spent from State coffers because due to the Bush policies we are in a deep financial shortfall in Florida and programs to protect the environment and others are being cut back.
I have heard many blogs suggesting that the delegate count for both Florida and Michigan be subtracted from the count needed to win the nomination and have the party move forward-not backward.
I blame Democratic election and campaign mismanagement for Bush having ever been elected and now I can’t believe I am seeing yet another campaign self-destruct. I don’t want to hear about the election being stolen in Florida because it never should have been CLOSE if the Democratic party had run even a half way competent campaign!
Please do not deliver another victory to the Republicans.
