One Hour to Go!

With one hour until the 2008 Democratic National Convention officially kicks off, the Pepsi Center crowd is slowly but steadily growing. One face in the crowd earlier today was Michelle Obama. She stopped by for a walkthrough of the podium, touring the Pepsi Center and taking her first look at the Convention’s incredible stage.

Outside the Pepsi Center, people are wandering around the various media pavilions and grabbing lunch from the vendors. Inside, people are getting situated and exploring the seemingly endless hallways. We’ll be giving you a detailed look inside every corner of the Pepsi Center, but for now take a look at the current scene as the Convention nears:

  • I am proud to be an American, I am also a Democratic. I am a woman who has a son with special needs, a 29 year old young man. I have had to fight for health care for my son and am curently tired of our money going out of the country. I am personally having to apply for help due to the economy. All I heard struck a cord, I need health care for my-self and my son, We can hardly put food on the table Pay for gas in my car, and my reacent electric Bill is almost 200.00 dollars. I am ready, past ready for change. I was a Clinton suporter, and pray to God all the changes we so desperatly are need NOW.

  • Can't wait for the convention to start. I am in Brisbane hoping for an Obama presidency to begin restoring America's heart and soul.

  • I am looking forward to Michelle Obamas speach. I think this is her chance to show the world who she is. I feel that she will show the voter another side to her husband. With all of the issues surrounding Obamas choice of VP this week, I think it will be a good chance for the person who knows him best to show that he is and will be a strong and passionate leader for the country.

  • There is no better Presidential Candidate to lead the American Public and the National Democratic Party following the Bush Administration belittling the American Public than Barack Obama who comes from a family who once knew what it was like to be belittled.

There was no better choice by a Presidential Candidate selecting Joe Biden as Vice Presidential Candidate and advisor following President Bush’s lack of asking and listening to experienced advisor’s. Introducing a White House administration, which can now represent American Democracy nationally and internationally better than ever before.

There is no better choice by the American Majority and Minority that wants to hold America’s head up for our U.S. Soldiers coming out of Iraq of whom there is no better.

  • As I watch the leading edge of the coverage of DNC 08, with large SUV's and limo's rolling up and jumbo plasma screens, I sit scratching my head wondering where in the midst of all of the lavish, hi-tech, pomp and circumstance is the democratic party's concern for our ever so burgeoning energy crisis that I hear so much about. Also why don't I see anyone at the convention that looks like me, I'm a single father of two teenage girls who makes mid to high 5 figures. I am left wondering if this high profile affair appeals to many of my peers.
Thanks for the opportunity to wonder out loud.
PS. pardon my spelling/grammar, I'm not prone to exprssing myself using this type of forum.

  • I motion that in this convention we don't ask people to second a motion with "aye"... they should do it with "yes we can!"
